Try Puppy Linux 5.0 for Your Old PC or Laptop!

Before talking about this puppy linux I gotta say.... Intel, Nvidia and Ati (you too AMD!) can force us as much as they want but not everyone is capable of buying all these "latest" laptops or high end graphic cards!. But for some it is simply not needed since it is just not "needed" for them. Anyway for all those of you who has an old PC or a laptop but would want to try out latest technologies, then the best option is to give a try at some of the lightweight linux distributions without a doubt.

Although there are a lots of various types out there but for this especial purpose Puppy Linux is one of the best in my opinion (well not just mine but also according to experts as well). It asks for a very "little" hardware needs too.

At minimum it needs your PC or laptop to be....

*. 166MX or faster CPU

*. 128MB of RAM

*. Can be used even if you don't have a Hard Disk Drive!.

*. Supports CD/DVD and USB pen-drive booting (live CD).

*. What you thought that this was a command-line OS errrrrrrrrrr (just kidding), no seriously it has a very simple but useful GUI (graphical user interface) and the download size is about 100MB but heck it even includes OpenOffice!.

*. But by default since the downloadable file size is about 127MB Openoffice and other major applications are not included but by default it has...

1. Abi Word, NicoEdit, Puppy Browser (think you can guess what that is), Uget and Axel download managers, Picture viewer, screen capturing and editing tools and few games. But if this is not enough for you then...

If you have an internet connection then use the built in software manager called "Quickpet" which a GUI one btw and can be used to install a lot of other popular software applications such as ...

Chromium, Firefox, GIMP, Songbird (audio player for Linux), Wine (windows application runner on Linux - yikes! but it works dudes :D ), VGA card drivers, Java, and other media players and the list just goes on.
