Does Drinking Water Help You Lose Weight?

Well the answer to the above question might surprise some but according to experts, when used in the proper quantity, daily, Yes drinking water does help you lose some of that weight!.

Although not always excessively but again, it was shown using a research which was conducted by Dr. Brenda Davy, that individuals who drank 2 glasses of water 20-30 minutes before their meals were able to lose weight more quickly thus resulting a significant amount of weight loss! as time passed by.

Yes... but timing and quantity are very important!
She also claimed that those who drank 2 glasses of water ate 75 calorie-meals (average) which is about almost 15 pounds of weight loss per year!. Water has such a strong bond with our bodies (60%-55% body weight of a grown adult is consumed by water) thus the authority it carries concerning the main main biological processes in our bodies are huge. For instance, if your body is dehydrated by 1%, it can then distort the metabolism process which actually resulting gaining weight over the time.

They also found that the cause of water being such an impressive weight loss influence was due to the fact that, 40% of the calorie burning inside our bodies caused by the body's attempt to heat the ingested water. Although some experts argue over some of their findings saying the scale of the research was not enough to "jump" into such conclusions, but they all agree on the fact that, water do influence processes such as metabolism, the process that "burns" calories to maintain vital biological functions inside the body, which can be thought as the "engine" that burns your weight. The more healthier your metabolism-engine is the more easier it is for your body to achieve faster weight loss.

So, how much water should I drink?

For an individual with an average weight should drink around 8 glasses of water on daily basis. If you're overweight then you should drink another eight ounces for every 25 pounds of excess weight you carry. The amounts will also change when you do workouts or other activities as well.

Especially while exercising or doing sports, etc don't just rely on drinking water to satisfy your thirst. Make sure to drink a lot of fruit juices too. And at other times, during the day try to drink/eat a lot of water related foods such as soups and low-fat dairy as well.


But remember, don't drink massive amounts of water which can result in a condition called hyponatremia (low sodium levels in your blood - for instance, this can arise in athletes who rely on just water as the only way of replacing the lost fluids due to excessive sweating) which can cause confusion, seizures and at extreme levels can lead you to a coma.

But again, for most of us, we should only concentrate on drinking enough water so we would have not only a healthy body but it is proven scientifically that drinking water does help you lose weight!.
