Install Blender in Ubuntu, Best 3D Creation Suit for GNU Linux!

Although I myself ain't much of an artist, but that not to say I don't have the ability to appreciate something after seeing, that is a bit beyond my "league" ;-). Blender is such a utility that is without a doubt, one of the most advanced/best apps if you want to create 3D animations in GNU Linux.

Latest 2.57 GUI ...

Very recently they released the latest version which is 2.57 and this version seems to come with a re-designed GUI which also includes an Enhanced custom keyboard shortcuts as well. Since it supports plug-ins, you can expand its usability by simply installing plugins as well.

This version is a bit unique than other versions, since it brings the a lot of major changes to the heart of the application such as Modeling, Animation System and Physics engine changes as well. So, if you use Ubuntu and love creating 3D animations... seriously install Blender.

Open your Terminal and issue the below command (using a third-party PPA channel)...
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cheleb/blender-svn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install blender
