How To Disable Image Loading in Google Chrome

Now not all of us have faster internet connections, so sometimes it can be pretty useful to disable (temporarily of course) image loading in your web browser. And also if you have a usage limits with your ISP then again by disabling those bigger and ugly images while browsing for just "text" information can save some of that usage problems also.

So if you have installed the Chrome or the Chromium web browser, this is how you disable image loadings....

1. Start the Chrome and click on that "wrench" icon which takes you to the configuration window.

2. Then from the three tabs, click on the one that says "Under the Hood".

3. Under that tab then click on that first button just below "privacy" menu which says "Content Settings..."

4. Then from pop up (yikes hate those little pop ups ;-) ) window, from the left menu choose, "Images"

5. After that from the right side of the GUI click on that which says "Do not show any images".

Hooray! that's how you disable images in Google Chrome :D.

*. To enable image loading again just follow the same steps and when you come to the step 5, this time select "show all images (recommended)". That's it!.

How To Download Chrome Stable Offline Setup

Now I had my problems with the Chrome web browser in the past, I mean I still have them, like over simplified GUI, etc (heavily depends on the personal taste actually) but in comparison with the loading speed and web page loading time, etc I gotta say it is pretty cool actually. Now when you're trying to install Chrome you'll be given two main downloading options.

Well I mean, I kinda .... :(

1. The latest stable release (8.0.552.237 current version number)

2. The latest unstable release (yikes :( ).

I tried the second option few days ago (have a "thing" for the unstable stuff ;-) ) but even after downloading the setup, bugger simply refused to install and gave me an error. Then I decided to put away some of my enthusiasm and went for the stable release. Which installed and runs pretty damn well.

But the problem is that the default setup is based on an online installer which does not provide you with the setup if you want to install it later. So if you want to install it again then you'll have to re-download it. So then I searched for the Chrome stable offline setup but trust me, it wasn't that easy to find.

The offline standalone setup that Google gives you is the latest beta release so it won't be as stable as the 8.0 + version. So I did some real search and actually found the stable offline setup (yupeee ;-) ).

How to Remove Translation Bar in Chrome

Well as I said in a previous post about the google translator addon for firefox Chrome web browser has a built in feature when automatically asks you to translate those foreign language sites. But if you're not going to need it around that much then it can be a bit irritating at times as well. You know always asking "hey want this to be translated to that??" and after closing the bugger keep asking the same thing over and over again, trust me I know the feeling.

But luckily it can be fixed very easily in Chrome (or in Chromium which is the mother of Chrome). So all you have to do is...

1. Open your web browser,

2. Click on that "wrench" icon (the default configure button) on the top right corner of the browser and from the menu select "Options".

3. Then you'll be promoted with 3 tabs. And from them tabs choose the one that says "Under the Hood".

4. After that you'll see some settings options under that tab and look for a blue highlighted text called "Translate" un-check the message box says "Offer to translate languages that aren't in a language that I read".

That's it fellas.. for any reason (a foreign girl friend perhaps ;-) ) if you want that annoying bar again displaying then just put the check mark on that message box. So that's how you remove translation bar in chrome.
