Blogger Relased an Updated Translation Pack

If you have a site that usually receives a lot of traffic from different parts of the world or just want to write your posts in your language (not the cursing words... real language ;-) ) and wanna translate it to English or whatever language you wanted then the blogger translation setting is pretty handy.

Blogger has announced about their latest update for the translation pack which adds about nine languages.

Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Greek, Persian, Gujarati, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya, and Urdu.

So how do you enable it the translation on blogger?.. Well pretty simple actually.

Go to...

1. Settings (3rd from the left upper corner on your blogger post editor window)

2. The look at the bottom and you'll see "Enable Translation?"

3. From the drop down menu choose your default language and click "Save Settings".

That's it.

Blogger Has Added The Automatic Bocking Old Blog Address (URL) Feature

OK if the above statement looks confusing (welcome to my world.. wait think I used that line before ;-) ), anyway let's say that you had  blog which used to write, and as with my case since the old URL sucked like big-time you decided to change it.

Now what happened in the past when you change your blog address was that it automatically releases the name for registering for you + others. The spam dudes are pretty darn good these days and if you aren't that careful in the past they could sometimes find your old blog address within minutes (especially if it was a really old one.. with links pointing towards it.. , etc. Wait why u wanna change its address then!.. oh it sucked OK).

So let's say after changing the blog address you wanted to get it back but you felt really tired and went to bed thinking "I'm gonna get that old sucker tomorrow.. no one knows it is available for registering but only me :(". Well in the past it could have been a nightmare, waking up in the morning and trying to get your old URL back.

But I don't really know when but I changed this blog's address recently and Google automatically blocked the old URL and it is now only available for me to register anytime I like (well to be honest I don't know if there is a timeframe for this).

So even if one of your readers came through the old address they'd see a message called

Sorry, the blog at thenamethatsucked.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.
Which was in the past gave something like ... "the blog thenamethatsucked.blogspot.com cannot be found but is available for registering!" yikes for you hurray for your reader. So this is pretty cool actually.. I feel safe already ;-).

So, thank you Google Blogger team.

How to Convert Your Blogger Posts into a Printable Book!

Yes I'm talking about the actual printing not just a virtual "blog to book" application (although this service let you do that too ... cool right? ). And to be honest not everyone will have an interest in this type of thing but depending on what you blog about this will be a heavily needed service nonetheless.

For example if you have a journal type blog then if you want to convert all your posts into a printable book format (with live previews, etc) within minutes then the service called the blog to print will come in handy. The service however is not free. So you'll have to pay for it (yikes) but an application as simple and after considering its features I think the price is pretty decent.

You can choose what posts or pages of your blog needed to be included in the printable format and can delete pictures and texts with ease. As said you don't have to be an Einstein (no disrespect intended sir!) to figure out the GUI and other customizations either.

So if interested then - click here for the blog to print home page. And currently they only seems to support the blogger platform only.

How to Add Youtube Videos to Blogger Posts (in Blogspot)

Adding youtube to your blogger posts can be achieved in two different ways. I will point out the both of those methods for you. Now before blogger introduced the video embedding feature it was a bit of a hassle to be honest but still sometimes I prefer the old method. But as general rules don't try to add too many video to your posts, like images they go slow down your page loading speed, etc. So try to keep things to a minimum (unless you're a video blogger).

1. Now, the easiest method is to used the built in function on blogger. Click "New Post" or go to the post you want to add the video. Then go to the exact place of the text or the place you want it to insert and click on that "Insert a video" icon (look below). Then choose "upload from youtube" from the left side.

Click on this Video icon on the post editor tool bar

From there you can search youtube.com from your post editor select whatever the file you want to embed to the article text. When found the one you want, simply highlight it and click the "select" button, and that's it now you'll see the video is embedded into the post!.

2. Now the second method which is a bit hard but can be achieved the same task nonetheless.

*. Go to youtube again and search and find the file you want and play it. When it started to playing it, right click on the video area and choose "Copy embed html" and then come to your blogger post.

*. Now on the post editor ... click on the "Edit HTML" button and choose the exact location and simply right click and choose "pate". Now again click on the "Compose" button and you'll see that favorite celebrity of yours is lying on that post of yours ;-).

And if you want to change its height, width, etc then go back to the HTML code in the post editor and simply change values which are nearby to the "</object>" property (see the picture below).

Only change the numbers on the highlighted text close to </object>

OK that's how you add youtube videos in blogger posts.
