New 14 Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot Wallpapers Available for Download!

Every time Ubuntu releases a new version of their GNU/Linux distribution, they also make sure to include few brand new wallpapers where other GNU/Linux vendors just include one or two "official" wallpapers.

If you're a graphics designer and want to show-off your talent with Ubuntu, well there's a certain protocol that has to be followed before you can send your "baby" :D to Ubuntu art-work team for consideration. 

Anyhow, since we're like 12-11 days away from the official launch of Ubuntu 11.10, the latest news is that 14 brand-new wallpapers just appeared in the Launch-pad page. Although they may not be the official wallpapers pack... but still most of them would make it to the "official" disk images, I think (cannot remember the whole procedure :D).

Awesome!...

Although I have a very looooooooow talent for drawings and stuff but I gotta say, some of these new wallpapers looks absolutely beautiful! (including the official 11.10 wallpapers, which looks almost like the one with 11.04 btw).

"Ubuntu-Gallery" - Get Daily (kinda) Wallpapers for Your Ubuntu Linux PC/Laptop!

This is certainly not something new but if you're a bit new to GNU/Linux or to Ubuntu in general, then there is a dedicated website that holds (well links to locations such as Flickr, etc where you can get them actually) a lot of high resolution wallpapers which are dedicated for the Ubuntu Linux 11.04 version. But since the 11.04 is out already... I think it has the potential of becoming the center point for giving the creative geeks out there to express their love + some recognition from the community itself as well.

The website is called Ubuntu Gallery and according to the editor John, the purpose "was"...

"The purpose of this site is to show case illustrations submitted to Ubuntu and the greater community as wallpapers targeted to the 11.04 release referred to as Natty..."

Although when having a look at the archive ... before the 11.04 was released the site received a lot of wallpapers by various artists but after the launch... well there is certainly a bit of a shortage of new-wallpapers.

Anyhow, as said... why not make this already cool looking site a "major" wallpaper center for the ones with the talent and for the enjoyment of the ones like me who has not talent at all :) + an "epicenter" for "Ubuntu art" for the upcoming releases! (well, I think it kinda happening already :D). 

An Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Varsity Wallpaper from the "Dude Who Abides" :)

Well, let me cut the crap and come clean without all the fuzz (I'm a.... rap artist :/). Our fellow Canonical Desktop experience team member Neil Patel also known as the "other the dude" (apart from the cool Jeff) who abides has created a cool looking (bit darky) wallpaper for the upcoming Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric.

According to Neil and when looking at the picture myself, this GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) wallpaper can be used to create a nice looking T-shirt design. Especially on a Black one I suppose. Actually according to himself, this is an "inspired" from a T-shirt design as well.

There are basically main 4 versions ... or 4 different resolutions. So if interested why not go to this Patel dude who abides page and get it, or if you want the 1280x800 one, then just click on the image and save it to your HDD.

I actually don't think the darker wallpaper might go that well with Ubuntu since it's.. well it's too blacky.. but yes for a T-shirt it is definitely looking good :).

Wanna A Cool Looking Debian Sqeeze Wallpaper?

Debian "used" to look like *hit in the past. I mean, when comparing with the gorgeous theme sets that Ubuntu and the amazing wallpapers that the Fedora artwork team deliver... Debian, yep, it looked like.. you know, it didn't look good.

Even aliens like Debian!...

But with their recent version 6 which took a lot longer than expected, not only they've done an amazing job enhancing the OS but, don't know about you, but I love that default Blueish :) wallpaper that comes with it. And when added a new Gnome theme, it can look as good as any!.

Anyhow, when I was browsing deviantart, I came up with a pretty cool wallpaper which is aimed at Debian Sqeeze. So I thought that for all those Debian Geeks :P, this might come in handy. Get the original wallpaper from here. The full credit goes to the creator doctormo at Deviantart.
